Cybersecurity Diploma Program

Course Description

The need to protect against evolving cyber threats as technology continues to evolve and improve requires  strong cybersecurity. Cybersecurity career paths are an important part of the DOD 8570/8140 Information  Assurance mandate. The Cyber Security program can offer you the opportunity to be a part of this fast growing  field and be prepared to protect your network against cyber threats. 

The Cyber Security program is designed to prepare students for the specialty areas of Cyber Security. The Cyber  Security program begins the first with the entry level courses to provide you with the fundamental skills and  concepts required to maintain, support, and work efficiently with personal computers. In addition, you will  acquire the essential skills and information you need to set up, configure, maintain, troubleshoot and perform  preventative maintenance of the hardware and software components of a basic personal computer workstation  and basic wireless devices. In these courses, you will acquire the essential skills and information you will need  to install, upgrade, repair, configure, troubleshoot, optimize, and perform preventative maintenance of basic  personal computer hardware and operating systems. You will identify and describe all the major networking  technologies, systems, skills, and tools in use in modern networks. 

The program introduces the student to the specific skills required to implement basic security services on any  type of computer network. Students build on their knowledge of and professional experience with security  fundamentals, networks, and organizational security. The Cybersecurity Analyst course introduces the skills  required to configure and use threat detection tools, perform data analysis, interpreting the results to identify  vulnerabilities, threats and risk to an organization with the end goal of securing and protecting applications and  systems within an organization.

Course Objectives

  • The Cyber Security Program will provide students with the skills that employers seek in high level security  positions.
  • This program is designed to take an entry level IT professional working in the network support field  and prepare them for the specialty areas of Cyber Security. Completion of the Cyber Security Specialist Program  will demonstrate a high level of industry-recognized knowledge and expertise in cyber security. The Cyber 
  • Security Specialist Program and related certifications will set Global Institute of Technology graduates apart  from diploma/degree-only graduates and will increase opportunities for employment in the IT field.

In case, if a student is having related prior education, specific industry recognized certifications or relevant  hands on experience they must complete a minimum of any five of the above courses from Global Institute  of Technology to graduate. A total of 320 Classroom/Instruction Credit Hours must be met as a requirement  for the diploma program; transfer credit hours can be incorporated into this. The student will be notified  any changes in program training period and/or cost during the enrollment process. In the case of veterans,  the school maintains a written record of the previous education and training details, and notifies the specific  Veteran Administration (VA) contact with changes in program training period and cost, if any.

Graduation Requirements

  • The student must have a cumulative grade point average of C, 75%, or above and have met the minimum  competency requirements for award of the Diploma.

  • A performance grade  will be awarded based upon attendance, class participation, lab exercises and quizzes/tests.
